Sea Camp Ylvingen
Unfiltered, raw and beautiful days on the Helgeland coast

Do you want to explore life on the coast through kayaking, sailing, freediving and island living?

Are you ready to meet people searching for real experiences, new friendships and days shaped by the sea?

Join us in the heart of UNESCO-listed Vegaøyan, and experience authentic Northern Norway from the inside — out among islands, ocean and open skies.

Welcome north — to our islands and life by the sea.

Over four days, we get to know the ocean, each other, and maybe a little more of ourselves. The days are filled with movement, experiences and time outdoors.

We paddle, freedive, sail and swim — both cold and warm. We challenge ourselves, learn new skills and use our bodies.

The evenings bring everyone together. Beneath the midnight sun we gather around long tables, share good meals and stories from the day. Out here, the atmosphere is easygoing, the conversations flow and laughter usually comes quickly.

What’s included

Accommodation, all meals and activities are included throughout the camp. You’ll join a varied program with experiences on and in the ocean, with access to all necessary equipment.

The days are shaped by the weather, the sea conditions and the group itself — making every camp a little different, and giving you the best possible experience of life on the Helgeland coast.

And who knows — you might leave with a few new sea mates too.

Activities

We spend our days outdoors — whatever the weather. You’ll get the chance to try freediving or snorkelling in a wetsuit, exploring crystal-clear waters full of life beneath the surface.

We paddle kayaks, learn the basics of sailing, set halibut lines and fish for cod. If you want to head out on your own small island missions, we also have SUP boards, bikes, traditional Nordland boats and fishing gear available to use throughout your stay.

Dampen Folkebadstue
is open from early morning until late evening — ready for warm sauna sessions and cold swims in the harbour.

Where you stay

You stay in shared rooms with comfortable beds and good space between them. Whenever possible, rooms are divided by gender. If you travel with a friend, partner or a small group, we can often arrange private options such as our sea cabins or glamping domes, depending on availability. Bathrooms and showers are shared.

Himmelblå is more than a place to stay — it’s our ship out here on the coast. We live close together, share meals, stories and long days by the sea.

It feels a little like summer camp, and a little like life aboard a sailboat. You share rooms, adventures and everyday moments — and before long, people tend to know each other well, and care about each other too.

The people you’ll meet here

Sea Camp is built around the kind of days we dream about ourselves. We’re the same crew behind SeilNorge
and Himmelblå Brygge -people who have spent years sailing the Norwegian coast and living close to the ocean. Now we’ve taken the best parts of life at sea and brought them ashore.

Out here, we don’t just share activities. We share meals, stories, everyday life and the things we care deeply about — in the middle of an island kingdom that has drawn explorers and adventurers for generations.

Thank you so, so much for a wonderful week with you — it has been truly magical. You give so much of yourselves all the time, and it shines through in everything you do. Thank you.

So many more people should get the chance to experience this incredible place and all of you out there.

Fishing, sailing, kayaking, SUP boarding, Optimist dinghies, sailing boats, diving, amazing food experiences both at the lodge and around the bonfire — and last but definitely not least, your warm hospitality.

Program

(Rough program example — activities and schedule may change depending on weather, sea conditions and the group.)

Day 1 — Arrival & Welcome (Starts at 16:00)

Welcome to Sea Camp! We’ll welcome you throughout the day before gathering at 16:00 to get to know each other. We’ll show you around Himmelblå Brygge, introduce the equipment and facilities, and go through the plan for the days ahead together. The program is always adjusted to the group, the weather and the sea.

Shared welcome dinner at 19:00 in the restaurant.

Evening activity: Hike to Tyskjåjen and/or a fishing trip.

Day 2 — Kayaking & Halibut Fishing

Every day starts with an (optional) morning swim and coffee on the pier. After breakfast, we head out by kayak to explore the islands and coastline around Ylvingen. Dry suits are available if you want them, and we tailor the introduction and paddling level to the group.

We bring food and prepare lunch together on a remote island.

Shared dinner at 19:00.

Evening activity: We head out to set halibut lines before gathering around a bonfire — either by the sauna or down on the beach.

Day 3 — Sailing Expedition in the Island Kingdom

Today we set sail for a longer journey along the Helgeland coast. If you’ve never sailed before, this is your chance to learn. Depending on weather and wind, we sail either around Vega or north towards the old eiderdown islands of Lånan.

The sea and the weather decide how many swims we take along the way. Lunch is prepared in the galley and best enjoyed on deck, with salt in your hair and open ocean around you.

Shared dinner at 20:00 — celebration dinner & pirate quiz.

Day 4 — Final Day (Ends at 14:00)

After our morning swim and a long breakfast together, it’s time for the Sea Camp grand finale. What have we actually learned out here?

We finish with a sailing relay race in dinghies, knot-tying competitions and a few final challenges before crowning the winning team. Then we gather one last time before officially declaring Sea Camp completed.

Thanks for joining us — and safe travels onward to your next adventure.
